Garden Center Buyer, year round

Kennedy’s Country Garden Center has been a community asset for nearly 60 years. We provide solutions for all gardening needs ,including trees and shrubs, lawns, perennials, annuals, and vegetables. Expert landscape design and installation services for projects big and small, including lawns, complete gardens, patios, walks, outdoor kitchens, and more. Custom potting and container design services. Year-round, we offer a wide selection of houseplants including cacti and succulents. Seasonal plants and décor for fall and the winter holidays, including fresh-cut Christmas trees and custom-made wreaths. Garden tools and solutions in our Garden Center. Gifts and décor in our Gift Shop.

This is a full-time or significant part-time on-site role for a Garden Center Buyer at Kennedy's Country Gardens. The Garden Center Buyer will be responsible for purchasing, caring for and selling a diverse range of plants to ensure a well-stocked of the right amount of inventory. The role involves collaborating with suppliers, using sales history data, tracking market trends, negotiating prices, and maintaining strong relationships to support the garden center's offerings.

Due to the nature of our business, seasonal fluctuations in work hours, as well as weekend and holiday work are required.

Qualifications include, but are not limited to:

• Strong knowledge of plants
• Experience in purchasing and inventory management
• Negotiation skills and vendor management
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Attention to detail and analytical skills
• Collaborating with an experienced staff & management team
• Physical stamina for outdoor work and lifting
• Previous experience in a garden center or nursery is a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
