A great candidate would fit the following:
Responsibilities
- Analyze blueprints to prepare time, cost, materials and labor estimates.
- Solicit and review pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
- Prepare line item take offs and estimates of probable costs of materials, labor and equipment for construction projects based on subcontract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications.
- Participates in site review, SOW review, project hand-off, project closing and operational/sector meetings with the Project Manager and Superintendent as required.
- Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.
- Interact, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, customers, vendors, contractors and subcontractors
- Participate in material and equipment purchasing for secured jobs as required
- Attend site visits and contract price negotiations as required
Qualifications
- Minimum 5-8 years estimating for a Prime Contractor working on educational, institutional, commercial and industrial projects.
- Experienced on projects ranging from $50K to $30Mil.
- In depth knowledge of the construction industry and estimating processes for both public and private work.
- Understanding of project forecasting and projections
- Ability to read and interrupt plans and specifications.
- Excellent knowledge of the local subcontract and supplier market
- Competency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office products.
- Strong knowledge of computerized estimating software required. Experience with PlanSwift Estimating Software a plus.
- Strong negotiating skills.
- Able to perform take-off and pricing for self-performed work including demolition, concrete, and carpentry
- Basic knowledge of pricing for all other trades.
- Must pass background check.
- BS in Engineering, Construction Management or related field not required but recommended.
