Salary : Salary Range : $22.64- $35.09 Hourly

Position Summary :

The primary duty of the Enforcement Officer is to enforce the rules and regulations of the Kent County Land Use Ordinance and the Rock Hall Zoning Code.

Essential Functions :

• Responsible for the enforcement of various county ordinances.
• Reviews the standard sediment control permits and floodplain permits.
• Responsible for conducting on-site meetings and inspections with property owners, consultants, and contractors in order to explain regulations.
• Conducts pre-construction meetings.
• Conducts final inspections to ensure compliance with the variety of regulations in order to release both Certificates of Occupancy and Letters of Credit / Bonds.
• Meet with the public to explain regulations as they pertain to their property.
• Handles departmentalcorrespondence with federal, State and local officials (email, phone and letters).
• Manages the Critical Area tree removal plan reviews.
• Performs other duties as required.

Supervision :

The position reports to the Chief Code Enforcement Officer. The position does not supervise staff.

Work is conducted in a variety of settings some which provide comfortable lighting, temperature and air conditions,; however, some areas will expose the employee to occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less than optimal temperature and air conditions due to outdoor work. The position occasionally requires lifting of moderately heavy items, such as equipment, boxes (up to 40 pounds) and / or periods of traveling on a routine basis.

Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices or meeting rooms, e.g. use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, and / or avoidance of falls and observance of fire regulations. There may be some exposure to hazards on building sites that occasionally expose the employee to high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock. Precautions similar to those taken on a construction site should be observed in these instances.
