What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sanitarian position at Kent County?
The successful candidate will work in the Food Safety Program of the Environmental Health Division enforcing Kent County environmental health regulations and applicable state laws. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, inspecting food service establishments, complaint response, food borne illness investigation, temporary food event and festival licensing, promotion of food safety education and outreach, and emergency response. Additionally, the successful candidate may work in other programs such as swimming pool, campground, DHS and body art programs along with other assigned duties.Required: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health or a related field of science or engineering. Must have thorough knowledge of principles and best practices of Environmental Health Sanitation and county and state Environmental Public Health laws, rules and regulations.
Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted Michigan driver's license and have access to transportation in the performance of job duties. Computer literacy, including knowledge of word processing software, required.
