Your Impact

The Assistant Controller reports to the Corporate Controller and is responsible for managing the accounting close process and overseeing and assisting with revenue recognition, expense accruals, account reconciliations, commission programs, royalty programs, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and leases. Additionally, the Assistant Controller will participate in the development of transactional accounting policies and procedures, as well as the preparation of financial, audit, and tax reporting. The Assistant Controller directs the assigned Accounting staff responsible for General Accounting, keeping the team on pace for internal and external reporting requirements; and supports organization financial objectives by assisting with financial information and analysis. The Assistant Controller helps implement and maintain a system of internal controls that will ensure that company assets are adequately safeguarded and that all financial reporting is prepared in compliance with Company policies and US GAAP.

What You’ll Do

  • Oversees and coordinates accounting activities for monthly/quarterly/annual close process, including general ledger, revenue recognition, expense accruals, commissions programs, royalty programs, prepaid expenses, and fixed asset/lease management
  • Direct management responsibility of assigned accounting team staff including ensuring the accounting department is appropriately staffed with qualified financial personnel capable of meeting the objectives and responsibilities; Responsible for the hiring/on-boarding and continued mentoring and development of team members
  • Perform periodic accounting close processing and account reconciliations including month-end and ad hoc journal entries, detailed sub-ledger schedules, capital structure entries (term debt, revolving debt, partnership capital), bank account reconciliations, and fixed asset schedules
  • Participate in monthly/periodic preparation of financial statements and reporting packages including Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statements and supporting schedules
  • Serves as an Accounting/Finance ERP subject matter expert, assisting with the implementation and usage of ERP and financial applications software; Involved in validating/designing suggested changes to ensure accounting requirements are achieved to facilitate proper and efficient transaction flow
  • Implement, operate, and maintain policies, procedures, and systems necessary to maintain proper accounting records, internal control processes, and company asset protection
  • Operates with the highest level of ethical standards, integrity, professionalism and judgment; Maintains absolute discretion and confidentiality with all information
  • Assists with other office functions as necessary including cross training and developing a full understanding of job duties with Accounting staff to have the ability to fill in for any staff member
  • Attends all required meeting; Seeks opportunities for additional professional development activities as appropriate; Updates Job Knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations; Actively participates in performance improvement activities
  • Responsible for proper timing and application of revenue recognition rules; may involve significant interaction with Sales, Operations, and Project Management groups
  • Ensures that company financial records are maintained in compliance with company policies and US GAAP. Responsible for reviewing monthly/quarterly account reconciliations and other documents to ensure this compliance; assists with technical accounting GAAP guidance and support to all company entities
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Corporate Controller

What You’ve Accomplished

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • 6 years of Public Accounting or Private Industry accounting experience
  • 3 years of management experience and demonstrated ability to form, lead and develop high-performing teams
  • Willingness to accept additional responsibility and the ability to work as a team player to collaborate across departmental functions
  • Highest level of ethical standards, integrity, professionalism and judgment. Ability to maintain discretion with confidential information
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting, and the ability to research and interpret evolving accounting standards
  • Detail oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information and interact effectively with Senior Management
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, resourcefulness, patience and dedication
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
  • High degree of analytical and problem-solving skills with a drive for accuracy
  • Self-motivated and deadline driven with the ability to work longer hours as required during certain business cycles
