What are the responsibilities and job description for the Invasive Plant Coordinator (Forestry Program Specialist) position at Kentucky Division of Forestry?
The Kentucky Division of Forestry is hiring a Grant Funded Time Limited position to serve as the agency's Invasive Plant Coordinator. The position is currently funded for three years, but the position can be extended if additional grant funds are acquired.
This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in forestry or natural/biological sciences and requires four years of experience in forestry, forest health, forest management, natural resource management, or conservation. Graduate study in forestry or related field will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Job duties of the Invasive Plant Coordinator include:
- Developing and coordinating invasive plant management activities with partner organizations across Kentucky's Cooperative Weed Management Areas (CWMA).
- Organizing, training and leading an interim field crew in the treatment and management of invasive plants.
- Providing technical assistance to Division personnel, landowners, and the public on invasive plant distributions and their potential impacts to Kentucky's forests.
- Conducting monitoring and surveying efforts of invasive plants across Kentucky.
- Assisting with other Forest Health Program projects as needed, such as pest treatments and broader forest health survey work.

Pay: $46,000.00 - $51,000.00 per year
