Description
The Thomson-Hood Veterans Center is a long-term care facility located in beautiful Wilmore, Kentucky that iscommitted to serving Kentucky's Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity, and providingcompassionate care. The Safety Coordinator at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center is vital to the safety of thefacility in contributing to a secure environment to protect and serve Kentucky's veterans.
The ideal candidate will work within a team-centered environment to meet our commitment to serving Kentucky'sVeterans Key Responsibilities :
- Preforms professional level work in coordinating the development and / or implementation of a safety and / or health program; may train staff and preform other duties as required.
- Inspects facility machinery, equipment and / or structures for compliance with applicable safety and or health codes and makes recommendations for change. Documents inspections and provides reports to Administrator as required.
- Collects work related injury and accident data for in dept analysis. Conducts accident or incident investigations involving employees and reports safety or health violations and investigates results to appropriate staff with recommendations.
- Researches and reviews all regulatory changes and inform administrator. Presents policy and procedure to meet regulation. Develops training for changes and ensure implementation.
- Develps and implements a safety awareness and incentive program. Act as chairman of facility Safety Committee. Conducts monthly safety meetings with the safety team. Files reports and follow up with corrective action.
- Maintains current Commercial Driver's License B class with P endorsement and assist with transportingresident to and from appointments, special events and courier service as required.
- Serves as Security Officer to cover shortages and responsible for fleet management to include preventive maintenance, repairs, and vehicle replacement.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION : Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS : Two years of experience in safety operations or inspection, incident management, or emergency services.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE : NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION : Additional administrative, safety operations and / or inspection, incident management, or emergency services experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.) : NONE
Working Conditions
Incumbent must be able to make oral presentations and conduct training sessions for small to large groups. Travel may be required.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
