CHARACTERISTICS OF A CLASS : ARE GENERAL STATEMENTS INDICATING THE LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY AND DISCRETION OF POSITIONS IN THAT JOB CLASSIFICATION.
Is responsible for performing accounting-related clerical duties that require familiarity with basic accounting functions with word processing, spreadsheet, and querying software.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS ARE COMPREHENSIVE STATEMENTS OF THE MINIMUM BACKGROUND AS TO EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS WHICH WILL BE REQUIRED IN ALL CASES AS EVIDENCE OF AN APPOINTEE'S ABILITY TO PERFORM THE WORK PROPERLY.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE:
Two (2) years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, and accounts payable, business administration or closely related field.
SUBSTITUTION CLAUSE
EDUCATION:
Additional education in the field of Business Administration, Public Administration, Community Health, Public Health, Accounting, Human Resource Management may substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.

Processes accounts payable, invoices for payment, balances and reconciles accounting records, performs complex data entry and related operations in posting accounts receivable payments, maintains appropriate ledgers, maintains fiscal records, assists in the preparation of payroll, reviews a limited range of source documents, reconciles routine accounting records, enters routine financial transactions into accounting systems, receives cash, checks and/or money orders and balances receipts and posts to accounting records.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS AND UNIQUE PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: INCUMBENTS IN THIS CLASSIFICATION WILL TYPICALLY PERFORM THEIR PRIMARY JOB DUTIES UNDER THESE CONDITIONS. THESE CONDITIONS MAY CHANGE ON OCCASION IN PERFORMING THE DUTIES OF AN INDIVIDUAL POSITION.
Work typically is spent inside the office.
