Academic Advisor – KWC Online
Kentucky Wesleyan College, a private, liberal arts college with a long-standing reputation for
quality and academic excellence, invites applications for a part-time Academic Advisor to
support our online student body. This position is 100% remote.
Position Summary
The Academic Advisor will provide leadership and daily management of Kentucky Wesleyan
College Online students. Among other duties, the advisor oversees academic advising and
evaluates and recommends innovative concepts, technologies, and programs, while ensuring
quality and consistency of academic advising across campus. This position will work closely
with the Director of Online Learning to ensure timely communication with faculty and partner
with faculty to address programmatic concerns.
Major Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one academic advising to students enrolled in online programs, helping
- Guide students through academic challenges, providing resources and strategies for time
- Monitor student academic progress and proactively reach out to students who may be
track their success and provide continuous support.
- Co-monitor the Early Alert system, manage referrals, seek resolutions, and close out
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the office, set goals and outcomes, perform
- Actively engage in retention efforts by building strong relationships with students,
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student interactions, academic plans, and
- Assume other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Director of Online Learning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a field related to higher education affairs, i.e. Student Affairs,
- Previous experience in post-secondary student advising or student success.
- This is a remote position, and candidates must have access to a reliable internet
- Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required to accommodate students in
- Commitment to promoting student success and encouraging outcomes-directed solutions.
- Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of trends, practices, and issues relevant to student success.
This position is part time and 100% remote, with an expected scheduled of 11-20 hours per
