What are the responsibilities and job description for the Attendance Clerk Assistant - High School position at Kentwood Public Schools?
- Provide a positive customer service experience to staff, students and parents/guardians when they are reporting to the attendance office or on the telephone
- Communicate with and assist teachers and administrators as it relates to attendance.
- Record daily attendance information – computer entry – resolve attendance issues and inquiries.
- Responsible for end of day completion of daily attendance activity.
- Maintain detailed attendance recordkeeping with a high degree of accuracy.
- Review daily student attendance on district-wide network.
- Issue tardy/late slips during the school day and provide early dismissals for specific students leaving school early for approved reasons.
- Monitor, identify and correct attendance inaccuracies.
- Schedule students on system to allow teachers to view students for attendance taking.
- Regular, reliable and punctual attendance
- Serve on the school attendance team.
- Track truancy with a truancy team.
- Assist with attendance audit.
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
- Able to multi-task in a very busy front office environment.
- Ability to work in an economically, culturally and racially diverse environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
- Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office and other office applications. Willing to learn related software used by the district.
- Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
- Effective writing and verbal communication skills.
- Good math and phone skills (responsible to retrieve voicemail messages)
- High School Diploma required
- Two years experience in an office setting.
- Post high school training in the field of secretarial skills and procedures, preferred
- Skilled in Microsoft Office , Gradebook, Attendance Viewer, Student Plus and willing to learn related software used by the district.
