Summer Camp Counselor
Seasonal position; non-benefited; full-time/part-time; 20-40 hours per week; Sunday-Saturday; Shifts vary between 7:00 am - 7:30 pm.
Camp Goal Provide a safe and fun environment for campers that ensures their needs are met and allows them to enjoy their camp experience.
This position will support camp staff with program planning, implementation and daily camp operations. Supervision is received from the Camp Director, Assistant Camp Director and Director of Child Care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Help open and/or close the camp daily (including set-up or clean-up)
- Observe all State of Maryland and Montgomery County COVID Restrictions, if necessary
- Be a team player and have the ability to collaborate in a professional manner with co-workers to meet the needs of campers
- Ability to work in a diverse environment
- Ability to accept supervision and guidance
- Greet parents and children
- Assist in the planning, supervising and leading of recreational camp activities and group activities
- Participate in all activities outside or inside camp facilities
- Assist in supervising the safety of campers and perform daily inspections of camp facilities
- Assist in the preparation of the daily and/or weekly parent information letter
- Communicate positively and effectively with members, campers, co-workers
- Complete assignments on time
- Inventory and maintain supplies of camp materials
- Ability to assist in teaching an activity
- CPR Certification (Preferred)
- Exhibit good character, integrity, and adaptability
- Display enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control
- Ability to become CPR Certified
- Ability to pass a state and federal background check
- Perform other related duties as required
