JOB SUMMARY:
The primary function of the Body Shop Painter is to oversee and perform services as requested by customers in a superior manner and timely fashion.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises the care, storage and usage of all materials used in company painting processes in a safe and efficient manner. Maintains safety standards within all applicable governmental guidelines, including state fire and health codes, and federal OSHA guidelines.
- Assists the Body Manager in maintaining all necessary documentation required by applicable government health and safety regulations, including OSHA and EPA guidelines.
- Controls all inventory relating to the painting process, including ordering and pricing of materials.
- Assists Body Shop Manager, Shop Foreman and Service Writer in estimating time and costs required to complete all painting proposals.
- Receives repair order assignments from Body Shop Manager.
- Supervises and/or performs work directed in repair order in a timely and thorough manner. Coordinates selection of colors and materials with customer and Body Shop Manager. Maintains superior standard of workmanship in all services performed.
- Advises Body Shop Manager of any recommended changes in services ordered by customer.
- Determines if any further servicing should be recommended to customer, and communicates such recommendations to the Body Shop Manager.
- Maintains a level of training and experience with specialized materials, equipment, machinery, and painting techniques necessary for superior servicing of the customer's equipment. Attends training sessions as required from time to time by the Body Shop Manager.
- Performs additional services required when any piece of equipment is returned by customer because of Painter's faulty workmanship.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- High school diploma or the equivalent
- Ability to read, write and comprehend English instructions and information
- Working knowledge of all aspects of painting body parts and bodies of vehicles, including hand and power tools
- 3 - 5 years experience as a vehicle painter or apprentice
- Provide own tools
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to interpret vendor catalogs
- Professional personal appearance
