The Chemistry Department at Kenyon College is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to contribute to a Research at Undergraduate Institutions (RUI) grant from the NSF focused on controlled polymer degradation.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on synthesis and characterization of linear and cyclic polyesters via ring-opening polymerization of commercially available and novel lactones using coordination compounds.
- Analyze and synthesize data, and disseminate results in presentations and scientific publications.
- Develop teaching and mentoring skills through collaboration with Dr. Getzler.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, polymer chemistry, or a related field.
- Prior research experience and publications.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- A strong background in synthesis and characterization.
- Experience with air-free techniques preferred.
