Kern Regional Center is one of 21 private, non-profit regional centers contracted by the State of California through the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) to coordinate community-based services and support for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Kern Regional Center services over 10,000 individuals in Kern, Inyo and Mono Counties. Our counties cover approximately 22,000 square miles with a population of over 945,000 people.Kern Regional Center is looking for a dedicated Fair Hearing Officer who is looking for their next challenge. The Fair Hearing Officer will be responsible for managing client complaints, fair hearings and appeals, representing Kern Regional Center at eligibility and purchase of service fair hearings. The individual must be able to apply relevant laws, regulations, requirements, and policy standards. They will need to negotiate successfully and prepare effective presentations for administrative law judges. This individual will consult and train staff on the appeal process, vendor appeals, complaints filed under W&I 4731 and whistleblower, and clients' rights violations.Requirements The ideal candidate : Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in social work, psychology, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
