Pay: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
A downtown Syracuse law firm is seeking an experienced multi-state Payroll Manager on a full-time basis. The Payroll Manager is the “go-to” team member for payroll administration and manages payroll processes for W2, 1099 and K-1 tax classifications. Additional responsibilities include overseeing 401(k) and Cash Balance Plan payroll and documentation.
Essential duties:
- Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state and local payroll regulations
- Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies and compliance issues across multiple states
- Supervise and mentor Senior Payroll Analyst
- Ensure payroll is processed in an accurate and timely manner
- Monitor changes in payroll laws, tax regulations and benefits requirements
- Develop, analyze and maintain complex payroll analytics and reports
- The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills with the ability to create and interpret complex payroll reports. Must have high attention to detail, accuracy and organizational skills.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field
- 10 years of payroll administration experience, preferably in a legal or professional services firm
- Experience managing payroll for W2 and 1099; knowledge of K-1 tax classification desired
- Knowledge of 401(k) payroll administration
- Knowledge of Cash Balance Plan preferred
- Highly proficient with payroll systems (ADP, Paychex, etc.) and MS Excel
- In-depth knowledge of multi-state payroll compliance and relevant labor laws
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve compliance issues
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to supervise and collaborate effectively
