Key School seeks a Lower and Middle School Maker Technology and Innovation Teacher for the 2025-2026 academic year. The ideal candidate is an experienced educator with a strong foundation in elementary teaching pedagogy and a passion for inspiring students to learn, make and create. Primary responsibilities include teaching Innovation/STEM and Coding courses in grades 3-6, fostering the use of the Grades 3-6 Innovation Lab and leading Innovation and STEM-themed activities for Middle School students.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Teach 3rd and 4th grade Maker Technology and Coding courses and 5th and 6th grade Innovation and Design courses that:
    • Incorporate computer science principles to enhance and extend classroom learning and curricular projects.
    • Facilitate hands-on learning experiences incorporating various tools and technologies, such as 3D printers, laser cutters and electronics
    • Incorporate block coding software and robots such as Scratch, Ozobots, and Spheros.
    • Guide students through the design thinking process to conceptualize, prototype, and refine their ideas.
  • Offer Middle School activities on STEM/innovation-related topics such as making, coding, 3-D printing, electronics, and AI.
  • Organize and facilitate workshops and events annually or bi-annually at the School or in the community that promote maker culture and creativity.
  • Collaborate with First School - Grade 2 and Grades 7-12 Innovation Lab teachers.
  • Review and integrate FreshFarm Foodprints curriculum into innovation courses.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate curriculum when possible.
  • Refine the curricular scope and sequence to evolve the program and ensure consistency across grade levels.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred
  • Three years of teaching experience in Lower and/or Middle School education
  • Experience in STEM, Making and/or Computer Science

Key School follows a Faculty Equity Scale that recognizes direct years of experience that correlates to the steps on the scale. The salary range for this position is $46,820-$88,305 and is based upon several factors that include, but not limited to the candidate’s years of work experience, education and skills. There are additional opportunities on campus for coaching and various stipends as well.

Technical Competencies:

All candidates for teaching positions should be familiar with learning management systems such as Seesaw and Google Classroom and have the ability to create and deliver engaging multimedia content using a variety of digital tools. Key is a Google Workspace for Education school. Candidates should be proficient in using Google applications, have a solid understanding of cloud-based storage and file-sharing platforms, and efficiently manage email and scheduling using Gmail and Google Calendar. They should be proficient in virtual communication tools such as Zoom or Google meet and have basic troubleshooting skills to resolve common technical issues that may arise in the classroom.

Work Schedule/Travel:

Occasionally, there may be business and school functions that will require your presence to work flexible hours, including evenings and/or weekends and travel outside of Annapolis.
