Job Overview:
The Fabricator II position is responsible for performing various tasks related to the fabrication, assembly, and inspection of materials and hardware to meet quality standards. This position requires adherence to safety regulations and precision in handling tools and equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Adhere to all company policies, safety rules, and regulations.
- Identify materials by part number and product finish.
- Load and unload heavy materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, shelves, and machinery by hand.
- Stack custom rails based on job requirements and ship dates.
- Read and interpret complex take-off sheets, cut lists, and custom shop orders to verify hardware locations.
- Verify measurements for accuracy and ensure product quality.
- Use a hand router for necessary cutouts and a drill to countersink punched holes for hardware applications.
- Learn to identify and retrieve needed stock or custom hardware from storage bins.
- Install door hardware, such as butt hinges, pivots, and mid-panels using hand drills.
- Apply and adjust panic rods, package screws, and affix them to doors.
- Sand, clean, and mark all jobs with proper identification.
- Follow the MDR scrap material process for handling waste materials.
- Perform quality inspections and report any errors or discrepancies.
- Operate and maintain power tools such as sanders, shapers, routers, and drills.
- Clean work areas, tools, and equipment to maintain a safe and organized workspace.
- Complete checklists, reports, and logs as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
Experience:
- 1 year of related work experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with employees and supervisors.
- Basic math skills, including the ability to count, add, subtract, and multiply.
- Ability to measure to 1/32 of an inch with precision.
- Problem-solving skills to respond to minor issues in standard work situations.
Physical Demands
- Stand for extended periods.
- Lift up to 40 pounds or 1/3 of body weight repetitively.
- Work 12-hour days as needed.
- Bend and twist repetitively during tasks.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
