Role Overview

As a Programming Technician, you’ll provide high-quality car key duplication and programming services to customers at retail partner locations. You’ll represent KeyMe Locksmiths by performing technical tasks including, key cutting, fob programming, and troubleshooting – ensuring professional service and precision in every interaction.

What You’ll Do

  • Travel daily to assigned retail partner locations
  • Cut and program a variety of car keys, including standard, chip, fob, and remote keys
  • Maintain a clean, organized mobile work area and follow strict operating procedures
  • Track daily performance, sales, and inventory using a company-provided tablet or POS system
  • Work independently while upholding high standards of service and professionalism
  • Address and resolve product issues and customer concerns
  • Perform key programming, re-keying, and cutting to code
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as relevant regulations, regarding product promotion and sales activities
  • Maintain company vehicles, conduct audits, and keep accurate sales logs

How We Know You Can Do It

  • Experience with car key cutting or programming
  • Familiarity with locksmithing or basic automotive services
  • Organized and detail-oriented with strong time management skills
  • Comfortable using mobile technology, tablets, or point-of-sale (POS) systems
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision and take full ownership of results
  • Strong problem-solving ability and comfort working with tools and technical tasks
  • Willingness to follow processes, maintain inventory, and uphold safety protocols

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Able to work a Wednesday–Sunday schedule (off Monday & Tuesday)
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods of time
  • Must pass a background check
  • Willing to travel throughout the Chicago and its surrounding areas
