Job Title: Transportation Engineer
Location: Fargo, ND
Pay: $85,000 Depending on experience
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Transportation Engineer to join our team for a large project in Fargo, ND.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review detailed plans, design calculations, cost estimates, schedules, and recommendations for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with engineering standards.
- Analyze engineering data and develop conclusions and recommendations.
- Conduct constructability reviews of preliminary and final plans related to highways, bridges, railroad facilities, roadway terminations, and work zone traffic control and staging plans.
- Coordinate the construction of temporary access for other construction teams.
- Assist in work zone traffic control maintenance and setup, and participate in MOT Task Force meetings.
- Prepare preliminary layout drawings and engage with the project team for discussion.
- Maintain records, prepare reports, and manage correspondence related to ongoing work.
- Provide construction administration services and on-site construction observation.
- Monitor subcontractor work quality and coordinate design changes or change order requests.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong background in Civil and/or Construction Engineering.
- Experience with schedule and cost control, and production rate tracking.
- Proficiency in computer operations, computer-aided design (CAD), and drafting practices.
- Familiarity with NDDOT policies and procedures (desired but not required).
- Knowledge of North Dakota Standard Specifications for Roads and Bridges (desired but not required).
- Experience with highway construction projects, including embankment, aggregate, asphalt and concrete pavements, signage, and traffic control.
- Competence in data collection and evaluation techniques.
Experience & Qualifications:
- B.S. in Civil or Construction Engineering.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in transportation engineering or construction management.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
Field & Craft Positions:
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations.
- Regular noise exposure in the work environment.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, safety-toed boots, and safety vests.
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to navigate irregular and steep terrain and respond quickly to sounds.
- Physical ability to bend, stoop, ascend/descend, and engage in various movements during the work process.
Office Positions:
- This position is primarily based indoors, with minimal exposure to unusual elements (e.g., extreme temperatures, dust, fumes).
- Requires substantial hand and finger movement for operating office equipment.
- Ability to exert up to 15 pounds of force occasionally, and remain stationary for extended periods.
