Capital Area Head Start is seeking Preschool Teachers to join our mission of making a difference in the lives of children, empowering parents, and strengthening families.
As a Head Start Teacher, you will experience rewarding, exciting, and meaningful days managing, creating, educating, and inspiring! In collaboration with our inclusive team, you will be part of delivering a high-quality, curriculum-based educational program. This includes developing and implementing lesson plans, approaching child development through family engagement and community partnerships, ensuring the health and safety of children, and maintaining positive outcomes.
Head Start Teachers work 10 months out of the year and enjoy summers off while earning a minimum of $20.61 per hour. Schedules are based according to the school year and include 1576 work hours. Minimum Requirements:
- Associate’s degree or higher in early childhood education, child development, or a related field
- Experience working with pre-school age children
- Intermediate computer skills, ability to use Microsoft Word, Outlook and learn web based systems
- Valid driver’s license and access to properly insured vehicle, or public transportation
- Successful completion of the pre-employment process, including Criminal History, MVR, Child Abuse and FBI clearances
- Passion, enthusiasm, creativity, and commitment to make a difference
- Experience in Head Start or Early Head Start is preferred
