Chesapeake, VA is located in the middle of Coastal Virginia with warm, sunny beaches, natural parks and historic Williamsburg, VA all within 30-45 minutes driving distance!
Chesapeake Regional Medical Center performs roughly 120 Open Heart Procedures per year consisting of CABG and VALVE with minimal ECMO. No VAD’S or Transplants.
As a Staff Perfusionist, your primary role will be to oversee all aspects of perfusion-related services, working collaboratively with the departments of anesthesia, surgery, and nursing administration. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the safe and effective operation of equipment, techniques, and procedures, as well as conducting quality control measures to uphold the highest standards of patient care.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Graduate of an accredited cardiovascular perfusion education program
- Certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP)
- American Heart Association or Red Cross health care provider BLS Certification
Competencies:
- Safe and effective operation of cardiac perfusion equipment
- Effective infection control practices related to equipment operation
- Accurate patient information review
- Maintaining a safe environment

- Ongoing professional development
The ideal candidate will have highly effective verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, and the ability to promote professionalism through involvement in professional organizations, teaching, research, publishing, and/or certification in an area of specialty.
