Network / Infrastructure Cabling Engineer

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client in the Sacramento/San Francisco, CA area that is seeking a Network/Infrastructure Cabling Engineer. Daily Activities:

• Architectural (Design of TR spaces based on building size/IT requirements)
• Mechanical (HVAC size based on IT equipment specs)
• Electrical (UPS sizing, pathway design based on IT requirements)
• Cabling SOW (backbone, horizontal cabling - fiber/copper/specialty)
• Site Assessments (Schematic Design and estimation tool)
• IT Design (Design Development/Construction Documents for follow-on engineering)
• Cabling SOWs (CD/Add Move Change for IT and Regulatory Device connectivity)
  
  

Responsibilities

• In this role, the Network Engineer works directly with customers, vendors, and Strategic Partners to identify, troubleshoot, resolve data networking related issues and/or design network solutions
• Troubleshoot and resolve LAN/WAN connectivity issues as they arise in and Ethernet and Token Ring environment
• Maintain data integrity through daily backup of all file server information
• Ensure that an effective tape rotation is maintained
• Troubleshoot hardware problems
• Provide timely and accurate progress status on all ongoing support issues, with an emphasis on problems, issues, and concerns
• The Network Engineer will monitor telecommunications performance and make configuration changes to hubs, routers, switches, etc., as necessary to ensure that maximum network performance is maintained
• Manage server disk space, memory, caching, and other performance metrics to ensure that all servers are operating at peak efficiency
• As a Network Engineer, you will evaluate and recommend new or upgraded products to enhance the performance of the LAN/WAN
  
  

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in MIS/Computer Science/Math or equivalent experience
• 10 years of experience designing, installing, servicing, and maintaining low voltage cable infrastructure systems such as Category 5, Category 6a and Fiber Optic Structured Cable Distribution Systems
• Must have manufacturer specific experience and/or certifications preferred (Commscope, BICSI, Panduit, Hubbell, Corning, Leviton, AV, etc.)
• Strong comprehension of terminology pertaining to the installation and service of cabling infrastructure for telecom, data, security, and wireless systems
• Experience with one or more engineering software packages; Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks
  
  

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
