Project Accountant

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Project Accountant in Hanahan, SC. Duties Include:

• Set up projects in the accounting system, ensuring all approvals are secured and tax/accounting rules are applied correctly
• Project Accountant will review contracts, change orders, and client approvals to understand project scope and billing requirements
• Accurately track and report revenue, costs, and profit for assigned projects
• Monitor project progress and keep the team updated on billing, costs, and overall profitability
• Assist project teams with financial tasks, such as comparing work orders to contracts and budgets
• Create and manage job-related purchase orders and track open commitments
• Complete month-end tasks, including revenue recognition, cost adjustments, and work-in-process updates
• Identify and resolve financial discrepancies with the project team during monthly reviews
• Prepare and send customer invoices promptly, ensuring they align with contract terms and include necessary documentation
• As a Project Accountant, you will support efforts to collect overdue payments
• Submit required regulatory reports and filings for projects
• Provide requested information for internal and external audits
• Perform additional tasks as needed to support project and financial operations
  
  

Requirements

• At least a year of project accounting experience (the more the better)
• Admin skills
• Strong time management and organization skills
• Knowledge of contract accounting and revenue recognition principles in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles in the U.S.
• Spectrum construction software is a plus
  
  

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
