Kforce has a client in Los Angeles, CA that is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with Scala experience. Responsibilities:
- Build and optimize scalable backend services that power real-time ad decisioning
- Write high-quality, tested code in Scala
- Design APIs that integrate with audience data, content metadata, and ad inventory services
- Implement algorithms to select the best ad set based on complex targeting and pacing rules
- 5 years of backend software development experience in a modern JVM language (Scala, Java, Kotlin)
- Strong experience designing distributed systems
- Solid understanding of service-to-service communication, data flows, and performance tuning
- Familiarity with message brokers and microservice design
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, product-focused engineering environment
- Experience in AdTech or digital advertising systems
- Knowledge of Akka, constraint solvers, or optimization algorithms
- Familiarity with streaming platforms, SSAI, or server-side targeting logic
- Exposure to Kubernetes, ClickHouse, Flink, or similar technologies
