RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Los Angeles, CA that is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with Scala experience.
Responsibilities:
* Build and optimize scalable backend services that power real-time ad decisioning
* Write high-quality, tested code in Scala
* Design APIs that integrate with audience data, content metadata, and ad inventory services
* Implement algorithms to select the best ad set based on complex targeting and pacing rules
REQUIREMENTS:
* 5 years of backend software development experience in a modern JVM language (Scala, Java, Kotlin)
* Strong experience designing distributed systems
* Solid understanding of service-to-service communication, data flows, and performance tuning
* Familiarity with message brokers and microservice design
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, product-focused engineering environment
* Experience in AdTech or digital advertising systems
* Knowledge of Akka, constraint solvers, or optimization algorithms
* Familiarity with streaming platforms, SSAI, or server-side targeting logic
* Exposure to Kubernetes, ClickHouse, Flink, or similar technologies
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
