About the Job
This position involves providing clinical assessments, crisis intervention, and ongoing counseling services for survivors of intimate partner violence. The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in social work or professional counseling and have experience working with sensitive issues, such as trauma and abuse.
Main Responsibilities
- Counsel survivors of IPV with their children, addressing parenting issues and family emotional stressors.
- Work collaboratively with other counselors, support group facilitators, and shelter department staff to provide group and/or therapeutic activities for survivors residing in shelter.
- Participate in twelve hours of Victim Service Provider (VSP) approved trainings each year to maintain active VSP certification.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Master's degree in social work or professional counseling (LPC) required.
- One year of direct counseling service experience, preferably in crisis intervention.
- Strong understanding of counseling dynamics, modalities, and techniques.
- Familiarity with intimate partner violence and its effects on survivors and their children.
