JOB TITLE: Mine Utility Superintendent

PURPOSE & SCOPE OF THE POSITION:
The Mine Operations Utility Superintendent manages a crew of approximately 17 operators, one supervisor and a project engineer. This includes all associated infrastructure maintenance activities, in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. The Superintendent proactively coordinates activities and resources in conjunction with other departments in order to comply with priorities and the objectives of the published mine plan. (Mid to Long Term Tactical Role)
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow and enforce company and department safety and occupational health policies and MSHA regulations.
- Responsible for continued adherence to RNMC Core Values – Zero Harm, Teamwork, Results Driven, Accountability and Courage.
- Responsible for employee training and development in the operations department.
- Oversee staffing of subordinate roles, training staff, progression plan administration, work practices, and skills development.
- Drive the execution of a utilities plans, including continual technical and procedural improvements in dewatering and building maintenance operations to ensure achievement of mine plans, production volume and system quality in order to meet deadlines and cost goals.
- Evaluate, coordinate and implement all phases of activities including wells and associate infrastructure, mine dewatering infrastructure and general grounds and building and maintenance.
- Oversee and act to improve opportunities in greater efficiencies within the utility group.
- Support development and adherence of utility operations expense and capital budgets, including workforce planning.
- Work collaboratively with mine operations, mine maintenance, mine engineering, support services, human resources, safety, supply chain, finance, process and environmental areas to achieve business plan objectives.
- Ability to listen to employees’ suggestions and concerns.
- Responsible for communicating goals and information to utility department employees.
- Drive incident investigations, near misses, damage or delays, to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out and practical corrective actions are developed and completed.
- Develop cross functional synergies utilizing external support services as required.
- Willingness to perform other duties as necessary to ensure the success of KGHM.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:
- 10 years’ of experience in one of the following fields, or any combination thereof, preferably open pit: Mine operations, construction, engineering, or other technical experience.
- 10 years’ of supervisory experience.
- A valid Driver’s License.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:
- B.S. Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Water Resource Engineering or other related field.
- Equivalent 10 years of related experience can substitute for the Engineering degree requirement.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Moderate to advanced operational skills in Microsoft Office Suite; Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Project.
- Moderate to advanced operational skills in JDE accounting software.
- Demonstrated knowledge of mine planning related software.
- Demonstrated knowledge of pumping, piping and flow controls.
- Demonstrated knowledge of general building maintenance.
- Demonstrated knowledge of heavy equipment operation and maintenance practices.
- Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning practices and employee development.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Minimal travel required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Medium: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly. Physical demand requirements are greater than that required for Light Work.
