What are the responsibilities and job description for the DIRECTOR OF PEOPLE OPERATIONS position at Kharon?
TL;DR Kharon is seeking a full-time Director of People Operations, who will report to our Washington D.C. office.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assume and manage day-to-day People Operations, ensuring seamless administration of HR policies, compliance, and team member support while serving as the primary point of contact for inquiries, concerns, and feedback.
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, proactively implementing policy updates, managing audits, and overseeing reporting to mitigate risk and maintain best practices.
- Manage compliance and risk related to global employment, including HR regulations, labor laws, and best practices for both domestic and international employees.
- Oversee benefits administration, including enrollment, renewals, and inquiries, while collaborating with People and Finance teams to ensure accurate payroll processing, compensation adjustments, and tax withholdings.
- Own and optimize HRIS and EOR platforms, ensuring accurate data management, reporting, and system enhancements to improve efficiency and provide valuable workforce insights.
- Support and enhance employee engagement, performance management, and retention strategies to cultivate a high-performing, motivated, and satisfied workforce.
- Partner with talent acquisition to facilitate a structured, high-touch onboarding process for new hires and a compliant, well-organized offboarding experience.
- Maintain and refine performance management frameworks, supporting managers in effectively assessing, developing, and recognizing team members.
- Manage employee relations and conflict resolution, fostering a fair, transparent, and inclusive workplace while ensuring legal compliance and mitigating risk.
- Act as a neutral and trusted resource for team members, addressing concerns with professionalism and implementing proactive measures to foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive work environment.
REQUIREMENTS QUALIFICATIONS
- 6 or more years of experience managing HR operations in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Experience managing HRIS platforms and data integrity, including system optimization, reporting, and automation to improve HR efficiency. Understanding of HR compliance, risk mitigation, and employment taxation.
- Track record of fostering a positive workplace culture, promoting engagement, and improving employee experience
- High integrity, discretion, and a people-first mindset, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a process-driven approach to HR/People operations.
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration or equivalent.
- Experience in FinTech, RegTech, or risk intelligence is a plus, but a demonstrated ability to quickly learn and understand complex industries is required.
- Experience in or with Talent Acquisition, a plus.

The base salary range at Kharon is set between $120,000-$140,000 annual. Please note that this figure does not necessarily include potential bonuses, commissions, benefits, or equity that may be part of the overall compensation package.
