What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gallery Manager/Director position at Kiang Malingue 馬凌畫廊?
Kiang Malingue was founded in Hong Kong in 2010 to build a critical dialogue between Asian and international contemporary artists, both emerging and established, who combine aesthetic concern with conceptual enquiry, and work across different disciplines from video and installation to painting and sound. The gallery is seeking a proactive and organised candidate to join our team as Gallery Manager/Director in the full range of tasks, including, but not limited to daily operation, archiving and exhibition management, etc.
Job responsibilities include:
Exhibition
- Exhibition project management: timeline and budget making
Production
- Artist liaison
- Manage artwork production including research on suppliers and fabricators, updating production, and framing costs
- Manage artwork loans and consignment agreements and renewals
Logistics & Insurance
- Shipment coordination for gallery exhibitions, and art fairs insurance list - upkeep with price changes and locations
Database
- Database management, artwork package and delivery
Finance
- Invoice, updating payment status
- Manage artist payments and credit notes
- Coordinate auditing work
Other
- Upkeep gallery’s pristine condition
Qualification
- With 3-5 year-experience in the gallery business
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Can work as a team player
- Graphic design skills preferable
