What are the responsibilities and job description for the Toddler Aide position at Kid Central- Child Care Center?
We're looking for a Toddler Aide to join our team!
Purpose of Position
To provide children a loving, safe, and educational environment while caring at Kid Central. To promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of the children. To encourage growth and independence in the children and prepare them for transitioning into preschool.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a loving and fun classroom that’s organized, sanitary, and functional.
- Meet the needs of all the children at their developmental and emotional level.
- Utilize lesson plans, which include our monthly theme and promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of the children.
- Follow a consistent schedule, which includes small and large group experiences, choice time, music and movement, art, large and small motor activities, skill development, meals, and effective transitions between activities.
- Encourage experimentation, exploration, problem solving, cooperation, socialization, and choice-making; ask open-ended questions and listen respectfully to the answers.
- Diapering and potty training.
- Supervise and monitor children at all times.
- Respond to crisis or emergency situations that may occur. Provide first aid or CPR, prevent the spread of blood borne pathogens, and access emergency services as needed.
- Work with assistants and other staff, maintaining excellent communication and comradery.
- Maintain ongoing communication with parents.
- Prepare classroom materials to support lesson plans; change and create learning centers as needed.
- Follow the rules and procedures of the center.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Excellent communications skills, especially good listening skills.
- Knowledge of child development.
- Ability to regularly lift up to 40 pounds during the workday, sit in small chairs, and get up and down off of the floor.
- Maintain 15 hours of continued education each year.
- Stay calm and positive under pressure
Requirements
- A teacher must be at least 18 years of age, have 30 semester credit hours at a college or university in Early Childhood Education and Child Development or related field of study, OR a Step 6 in the Oregon Registry, OR at least 1 year qualifying teaching experience in a Certified Center.
- Complete all required trainings/certifications: First Aid and CPR for Adults/Infants and Toddlers, Food Handlers, Enrollment in the Central Background Registry, Enrollment in the Oregon Childcare Registry, Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect Training, Safe Sleep Training, and Introduction to Child Care Health & Safety.
Schedule- Monday 7:30-5:30, Tuesday-Thursday 2-5:30 Friday 7:30-5:30
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $15.50 per hour
