Kid's Cottage, LLC is a licensed early childhood education center located in King George, VA. We believe in nurturing and educating the whole child. We offer small class sizes, a center wide curriculum, and a supportive environment.
K-5 Homeschool Teacher
We are looking for a qualified homeschool teacher to instruct and guide a small class of students in grades K-5. The class will run Monday- Friday from 9 am until 3 pm. We will follow the King George County School's schedule so all days that they are closed we will not be in session. Will pay for an extra hour per day for planning purposes that can be done on site but not required. We are looking for a loving teacher that understands the importance of building relationships with students in order to most effectively teach the required skills. We would ideally love someone who is willing to work to reach all of the students by offering different learning environments, a lot of hands-on learning and lessons, plenty of outdoor time, engaging and exciting lessons. We want a literature rich classroom with a multitude of read alouds daily, keeping the classroom fun and the magic of childhood, while still meeting all of the lesson goals.
Responsibilities
- Teach The Good and the Beautiful curriculum to all students daily
- Employ a variety of educational techniques ( differentiated, kinesthetic, game based, technology based, individual & group learning)
- Create lesson plans for STEM, Outdoor Activities, Art, Science & Social Studies.
- Encourage children to interact with each other, problem solve and use critical thinking skills.
- Organize all curriculum materials, classroom supplies, and lesson plans
- Track children’s progress and report to parents often.
- Communicate with parents daily.
- Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards
Skills
- Experience working with school age children, preferably teaching or in a school setting.
- Experience with The Good and The Beautiful curriculum preferred but not necessary.
- Understanding of the principles of child development
- Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classroom
- Excellent communication and instructional skills
- Ability to act as mediator between children
- Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
- Must Pass All Background Checks
- CDA, Associates or higher or High School Diploma with minimum of one year experience in education or relevant field
