About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Sales and Business Development Manager to lead outside sales efforts for the Fenwal Controls brand. This role oversees key geographic territories, and will be focused driving growth with existing customers and creating new relationships. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in outside sales and customer relationship management, with a strong orientation to technical and engineered products.
This role serves as the primary point of contact for direct customers and key business partners. Success will require strategic planning, problem-solving, and the ability to deliver impactful, confident communication that effectively represents the brand's values and offerings.
KiddeFenwal is the global market leader in designing and manufacturing innovative industrial and commercial fire suppression systems and safety controls with proprietary, fully certified offerings that save lives, protect property and minimize business interruption.
The company’s Kidde Fire Systems and Kidde Fire Protection brands produce highly engineered fire suppression, detection and control systems in the industrial, commercial and marine end markets, while Fenwal Controls serves OEMs in diverse end markets with products for gas ignition, temperature control, and fire and overheat detection.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for incoming opportunities; responsible for establishing professional relationships and understanding customer needs to recommend tailored product and service solutions in alignment with customer requirements.
- Operate independently to engage with OEMs, distributors, and new business prospects.
- Plan and execute sales visits, providing comprehensive reports on market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to inform product development and improvement initiatives.
- Identify product application opportunities, manage the customer sampling and qualification process, negotiate pricing, and maintain relationships to secure new business.
- Monitor key account forecasts, open orders, and new product demand to ensure optimal delivery performance and expedite as necessary.
- Foster relationships with existing and potential customers, ensuring timely responses to evolving market needs.
- Analyze sales and marketing data to optimize regional performance, improve profitability, and achieve business goals.
- Represent the company in a professional, cooperative manner to ensure a positive market perception.
- Meet annual sales targets while managing a diverse portfolio of customers.
- Lead all pricing and negotiation discussions with key customers.
- Maintain sales funnel and activity data to provide clear line of sight to sales and business development activity, ensuring adequate resource planning and sales continuity.
Travel Requirements: Approximately 30%, domestic and international.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- A minimum of 5 years of sales experience with commercial or industrial technical products.
- Valid US Passport
Preferred Qualifications
- Sales experience with technical or engineered products
- Familiarity with OEM Sales cycle.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver impactful internal and external presentations, create technical documentation.
- Proficiency in standard office software tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with modern ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, JDE, JD Edwards).
- Experience working in ISO 9000 or similar structured quality environments.
