What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood Classroom Teacher position at Kiddie Academy of Elkhorn?
The Classroom Teacher works cooperatively with the Lead Teacher to plan and implement their daily lesson plan for students in the classroom. Kiddie Academy of Elkhorn is a 225 student childcare center and preschool that specializes in early preschool, preschool and pre-kindergarten readiness. We have a supportive management team and a faculty that works together to put the students' education and care first. We are a fun and professional environment where teachers who love to teacher can do so in a private school environment.
Schedule: This position is full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday. We are open 6:30am-5:45pm and most faculty have set schedules based on their needs and the academy day.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Student Engagement, Academics and Classroom Management:
- Assist in the development of lesson plans with goals, objectives, activities, and outcomes for children and participate in implementing them intentionally.
- Engages children in the daily lesson plan, supports all academic and social/emotional activities. Counsels children when social, academic, or adjustment problems arise. Utilizes instructional aids and materials for classroom activities.
- Ensures that appearance, cleanliness, and safe environment of classroom are appropriately maintained, in accordance with the NAEYC cleaning and sanitizing guidelines.
- Assists children with meal times and clean-up.
- Assists with all academy and classroom paperwork: for example, daily notes, accident reports, attendance reports, and Tadpoles.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings, academy events, and parent meetings as requested.
- Assists with preparation and implementation of classroom lesson plans, programs, and schedule.
- Assists in maintaining an ongoing portfolio for each child. Portfolios should contain photos, samples of work and anecdotal notes.
- Responsible for attending workshops, conferences, and in-service training.
- Maintain an attractive and stimulating learning environment and encourage child’s independence and self-selection of activities.
- Ensure that all children are under appropriate supervision and guidance at all times.
- Maintain a clean, safe and healthy classroom environment.
- Assist with the timely completion of necessary paperwork, including developmental assessments, lesson plans, newsletters, incident reports, etc.
- Participate in reflective supervision.
Parent Communication and Interactions:
- Develop effective relationships with parents through regular informal conversations.
- Communicate with parents regularly about their child’s progress in person and through the parent communication portal.
- Develop effective partnerships with parents by encouraging input into all aspects of the educational program.
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors Degree or Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development; strongly preferred.
- A minimum of one year teaching in an early childhood program.
- Must be able to pass a background check that meets compliance standards.
