Job Summary:
We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and flexible Preschool Floater to join our team. The Preschool Floater will provide essential support across various classrooms during the afternoon hours. This role involves checking in on classrooms, assisting with restroom breaks, helping children with transitions, and ensuring a smooth pickup process. The ideal candidate will be able to step in for teachers when needed, ensuring the children have a clean, safe, and enjoyable end of their day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Classroom Support:
- Float between classrooms to provide additional support where needed. This includes assisting with activities, transitions, and helping children stay on task.
- Ensure that each classroom is running smoothly by providing coverage if a teacher is absent or during staff breaks.
- Restroom Breaks:
- Assist children with restroom breaks in a timely, patient, and hygienic manner, ensuring all children are comfortable and clean.
- Pickup Time Assistance:
- Greet parents and children during pickup time, ensuring a smooth transition from school to home.
- Help children gather their belongings and get ready to leave.
- Ensure children are clean and happy as they are picked up by their parents or guardians.
- Safety & Supervision:
- Continuously monitor and supervise children to ensure their safety and well-being during the afternoon hours.
- Maintain cleanliness in common areas (e.g., playrooms, hallways, restrooms) to ensure a hygienic environment.
- Behavioral Support:
- Provide positive reinforcement to encourage good behavior and help with conflict resolution if needed.
- Support the classroom teacher with any necessary interventions and ensure all children are treated with respect and care.
- Additional Duties:
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of activities or events.
- Communicate with other teachers and staff to ensure that all needs are met for each child.
- Occasionally help with administrative tasks such as attendance or notes for parents.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- High school diploma required. Degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with children in a preschool or daycare setting is a plus.
- Skills:
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, flexible environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact positively with children, parents, and staff.
- Patience, kindness, and a love for working with young children.
- Ability to step into different classrooms and assist wherever needed.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift or assist children as needed.
- Must be able to move around the classroom, engage with children on their level, and remain active during the shift.
Work Schedule:
- Part-time, Monday to Friday, 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Flexible hours may occasionally be available, depending on staffing needs.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 30 per week
