KidsPeace New England is dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for children and families in need. We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Family Support Specialists to join our team and make a difference in the lives of our clients.Position Overview:
The Family Support Specialist plays a vital role in delivering in-home support services to clients in our Treatment Foster Care homes and Supported Families Homes. This position may also involve providing supervised visitations in our Family Visitation Program. Responsibilities include client supervision, informal counseling, behavior management, crisis stabilization, and advocacy, all in alignment with the client’s Individualized Service Plan.Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise children and assist Treatment Foster Parents in maintaining a structured treatment environment.
- Implement positive reinforcement and reward systems to support client behavior.
- Provide informal counseling for emotional and behavioral challenges.
- Model appropriate parenting and communication skills, and teach effective discipline and boundary-setting strategies.
- Implement crisis protocols and ensure client safety when necessary.
- Participate as a member of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team, attending meetings and contributing to client care and discharge planning.
- Communicate relevant client information to team members and external service providers effectively.
Qualifications:
- High School Graduate; Associate or BA/BS degree preferred.
- At least six months of experience working with children and/or families preferred.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to respond to crises with sound judgment and effective intervention strategies.
