We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and maintaining accurate financial records. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and the ability to work with various financial software systems, including PeopleSoft. The Payroll Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting our organization's financial operations and employee satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Perform general ledger reconciliation to ensure all payroll transactions are accurately recorded.
- Assist in benefits administration by managing employee deductions and contributions.
- Handle inquiries regarding payroll discrepancies or issues from employees.
- Collaborate with the finance team to support technical accounting functions.
- Prepare reports related to payroll, taxes, and benefits as needed.
- Stay updated on changes in governmental accounting regulations that may affect payroll processing.
Experience
- Proven experience in payroll processing and administration.
- Strong knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with general ledger reconciliation and financial concepts.
- Experience with accounting software such as PeopleSoft is preferred.
- Ability to understand debits and credits in relation to payroll transactions.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues effectively.
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is a plus but not mandatory.
