Position Summary:
USAMRIID, located at Fort Detrick, Maryland, works closely with other U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command (USAMRDC) organizations, Department of Defense (DoD), the Interagency (including Interagency Laboratories), and private companies to accomplish its mission of protecting the Warfighter from biological threats and being prepared to investigate disease outbreaks or threats to public health. This includes conducting Research, Development, Testing, & Evaluation (RDTE) of medical countermeasure against biological threats and the safety, quality assurance, project management, and core support required for these research activities.
The Molecular Biology Division works to combat biological threats and weapons of mass destruction by developing high-throughput sequencing and protein profiling to identify emerging pathogens. It also evaluates and improves medical countermeasures, follows the DoD's roadmap for their development, and ensures their ethical use, including FDA approval. The Division also explores expanding indications and combinations with existing countermeasures.
The Training Clinical Nurse shall assist with administrative support and participate in the development of technology-based training/education tools as required by USAMRIID. The Training Clinical Nurse shall support USAMRIID with an experienced Nurse familiar with technology-based training and education programs. Specifically, assisting in staff coordination at the USAMRIID level as required by the Chief, Training and Education Branch. This position is contingent upon contract award.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Participate in USAMRIID's training programs as a Subject Matter Expert to support resident and on-line programs provided to CONUS & OCONUS organizations as directed.
- In collaboration with the DoM Chief of Training and Education, assist with the preparation and revision of training materials as required. Will provide all prepared materials and proposed revisions to Division leadership for review.
- In collaboration with the DoM Chief of Training and Education, assist with the research of supplementary training methods, materials, and simulations as directed.
- As required, participate in the development of necessary medical training projects.
- Participate in meetings and presentations related to assigned duties and/or work performed as directed.
- Provide training to staff and co-workers in planned medical training programs as requested by Division leadership.
- Provide administrative and logistic support for the conduct of meetings and conferences as required by Division leadership.
- Perform duties and responsibilities based on specific guidelines and objectives provided by the Division leadership.
- Shall support new projects initiated by the DoM within the Education and Training Branch mission as directed.
- Travel CONUS and OCONUS as needed to perform duties in support of USAMRIID's training & education programs projects.
Minimum Requirements:
Education and Industry Experience
- M.S. Nursing preferred.
- Ten (10) years demonstrated experience of combined informatics, management, EMR systems (military & civilian), clinical care of patients, staff education experience, and knowledge of infectious diseases.
- Experience in a professional position providing training and education, guidance and technical expertise in interdisciplinary or multi-service teams of professions, extensive clinical experience in preventive medicine/public health with emphasis in infectious diseases preferred.
Certifications/Licenses/Other
- Valid state nursing license within the US.
- Registered Professional Nurse preferred.
- Valid US Passport.
- Active SECRET security clearance preferred.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- Experience in the following computer software programs: Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
