OVERVIEW - GRAPHICS INSTALLER JOB DESCRIPTION & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
A graphics installer is responsible for applying vinyl graphics, such as vehicle wraps and decals, to various surfaces like vehicles, walls, windows, and floors, by precisely cutting, preparing, and adhering the graphics according to design specifications. This often requires on-site installation at customer locations and utilizing specialized tools and techniques to ensure a clean, professional finish. Key skills include attention to detail, measuring accuracy, and proficiency in handling vinyl materials.
Key responsibilities of a graphics installer:
- Preparation and Cutting: Precisely measure, cut, and weed vinyl graphics to match the designated design and surface area.
- Surface Preparation: Clean and prepare surfaces to ensure proper adhesion of the graphics.
- Installation: Apply vinyl graphics to various surfaces like vehicles, walls, windows, and floors using heat and application tools.
- On-Site Installation: Travel to customer locations to install graphics according to project specifications.
- Quality Control: Inspect installations for bubbles, wrinkles, misalignment, and ensure a professional appearance.
- Successfully Remove and Reinstall Vehicle Parts: Remove necessary emblems and parts in preparation for wrap installation and replace without damage to customer parts.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve installation issues, such as adhesive problems or surface irregularities. Advise management of potential problem areas prior to installation.
- Shop Organization & Cleanliness: Maintain an organized and clean shop environment to ensure the best conditions for superior quality work and present an excellent impression for guests who may be given a tour of the facility.
- Equipment Maintenance: Properly care for and maintain installation tools and equipment.
- Project Documentation: Timely photographic documentation of before, during and after installation. Documenting any issues or defects in surfaces or installation locations prior to beginning application. Ensuring project files have complete photos of work completed for billing and future reference.
Required Skills:
- Manual Dexterity: Precise hand-eye coordination for accurate cutting and application of graphics.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to meticulously inspect installations for any imperfections
- Problem-Solving Skills: Quickly identify and resolve installation challenges
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift and maneuver large graphic materials
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of vinyl properties and application techniques, heat guns, and other installation tools
Work Environment:
- Primarily outdoors or in a shop environment, depending on the project
- May require working in various weather conditions
