What are the responsibilities and job description for the Golf Course Mechanic/Shop manager position at Kiln Creek Golf Club and Resort?
Kiln Creek is a semiprivate golf course and three thousand home community that opened in 1990. The golf course was designed by Tom Clark and is owned and operated by the homeowner's association. We have a fleet of new equipment including two Toro fairway units, two 4300 rough units, two triplex tee/greens mowers, a Foley 653-reel grinder, and a 3500 rough unit. We renew our lease every 4-5 years. The course has also recently purchased new gators for the golf staff and will purchase new Kubota carts for the landscape staff in April 2025. Kiln Creek has 419 Bermuda grass and A1/A4 series bentgrass greens. The golf maintenance staff is responsible for the golf and clubhouse grounds. The mechanic should have the ability to troubleshoot hydraulics and gas/diesel engines.
Essential duties and responsibilities of the Equipment Manager include,
Have a clean and safe work environment.
Manage an organized preventative maintenance program.
Maintaining equipment daily to include reel grinding and set up.
The equipment scheduled for use each day must be in good working order.
Communicate frequently with the Assistant Golf Course Superintendents/Director of Agronomy.
Have a cheerful outlook and the ability to communicate professionally with all staff, guests, and homeowners.
Experience Requirements
3 years of experience as a head mechanic or Equipment Manager
Working knowledge of all turf and landscape equipment, including cutting unit set-up, hydraulic theory and diagnosis, electrical theory and diagnosis, combustion engines, welding, 2 and 4 stroke engines
Experience or familiarity on a variety of equipment
Ability to fabricate parts, including cutting and welding
Ability to read and follow manuals to understand preventive maintenance requirements and schedules and repair equipment
Know and can utilize the various trade tools and the safety guidelines of their use
Trade school or formal education or certifications in mechanical or electrical or related programs or equivalent experience is a plus
Ability to lift and move heavy objects
Have a valid driver's license
