Job Summary: The Strategic Sourcing Engineer will lead comprehensive sourcing strategies to optimize cost, quality, and supply chain efficiency for new product development and cost savings initiatives. This role requires technical expertise in materials and processes, as well as strong negotiation skills to drive supplier partnerships that align with product innovation and operational goals. The Sourcing Engineer acts as a liaison between suppliers, procurement, and engineering to ensure technical and commercial success. This role will also provide backup for other purchasing team members.
Essential Job Functions:
- Design and execute initiatives to meet cost, quality, and timeline objectives, aligning with company goals.
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers capable of meeting the technical requirements for new products such as casting, bar, rubber, plastics, stamping, electronics, plating, and coating. This includes assessing supplier capabilities, conducting site visits, and managing supplier qualifications.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with key suppliers, managing risk and maximizing opportunities.
- Partner with Engineering, Product Development, Operations, and Finance teams to ensure alignment between sourcing activities and business goals.
- Manage the creation, execution, and negotiation of Requests for Quotation and Proposals, ensuring they align with technical and business needs.
- Execute supplier contracts, ensuring favorable terms and supplier readiness for production.
- Collaborate with product development teams to support materials selection, process development, and production readiness for new products.
- Serve as the technical intermediary between suppliers and internal teams, communicating design and quality requirements.
- Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends, pricing, and emerging technologies to inform sourcing decisions.
- Analyze material and process costs, manage cost containment projects, and mitigate risks such as part shortages or supplier production issues.

Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, with a strong background in manufacturing processes.
- Proven experience with technical sourcing, including materials associated with casting, bar, rubber, plastics, stamping, electronics, plating, and coating.
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship skills.
- Experience leading or participating in project management activities.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing supplier performance in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced MS Office skills.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field required
- In lieu of degree, 12 year of supply chain experience required
