Summary:
The Inspector ensures the integrity and suitability of manufactured goods for delivery to customers. Performs inspection of parts according to customer specifications.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections of in-process and finished goods
- Perform first piece inspection on parts in order to verify the conformance of a machine operation, process, or setup
- Document, as required, and report to management the status of inspected products.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, operation process sheets and work instruction
- Review, verify and approve all incoming materials and documentation from outside processes.
- Complete all documentation and maintain quality files
- Use various pieces of measuring equipment including but not limited to calipers, optical comparator, micrometers, surface profilometer, gage blocks, pin gage blocks, etc.
- Familiarity with Quality Management Systems, AS9100 and ISO9001 a plus
- Maintain clean and organized work area
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Skills Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to effectively communicate with other employees
- Ability to effectively use a computer
- Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision
- Detail oriented and well organized
- Must possess basic math skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings
- Familiarity with and ability to operate inspection, test and measuring equipment
- Required to pass annual eye exam by licensed optometrist
Working Conditions:
Normal Production environments, subject to high noise levels from operating machines; physical hazards from moving equipment and sharp machine parts; breathing fumes, dust and mist; skin exposure to oil and cutting fluid; exposure to sharp metal edges, and forklifts
Physical Requirements:
- Must have ability to read applicable customer/Kinetic documents with or without corrective lenses
- May have to lift up to thirty (30) pounds at a time, as required
- Must be able to push, pull, reach overhead, stand, walk, climb stairs, bend and/or sit for long periods of time
