The Buyer is responsible for procuring goods and services with a focus on moderately complex purchasing tasks like soliciting bids, evaluating vendor options, negotiating prices, and ensuring timely delivery of materials, requiring experience in the field and a strong understanding of oil and gas industry specific products and suppliers.
Responsibilities
Sourcing and vendor management:
- Identify and qualify potential vendors for oil and gas related materials, equipment, and services, including conducting market research to find the best pricing and quality.
Bid evaluation and negotiation:
- Analyze bids from multiple vendors, comparing prices, delivery terms, and quality to negotiate the most favorable purchasing terms.
Purchase order creation and management:
- Generate purchase orders based on approved specifications and ensure accurate delivery timelines.
Contract management:
- Review and negotiate contracts with vendors, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
Quality control:
- Monitor vendor performance and quality of goods received, addressing any discrepancies or quality issues.
Cost analysis:
- Track spending and identify cost-saving opportunities within the procurement process.
Collaboration with stakeholders:
- Work closely with internal departments like operations, engineering, and logistics to understand their procurement needs and ensure timely delivery of materials.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
· Minimum of 2-4 years of purchasing experience in the oil and gas industry
· Knowledge of oil and gas industry specific products and services
· Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage vendor relationships
· Proficiency in procurement software and data analysis tools
· Understanding of industry regulations and compliance requirements
· Familiarity with contract negotiation, vendor management, and supplier management practices.
· Proficiency in using MRP software or other inventory management systems is a plus.
· Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in price evaluation and cost analysis.
· Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with suppliers and internal teams.
