Monday - Friday 8a-4p
The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for allocations, reconciliation, and reporting for a network of seven core nonprofits.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the accurate reporting of expenses including updating labor distribution profiles
- Assist with preparation of year end Consolidated Fiscal Reports
- Develop monthly reports to be distributed with the financial statements based on requests from Executive Directors
- Prepare annual budgets
- Reconcile general ledger accounts including the bank reconciliations
- Coordinate audits
- Calculate the annual employer retirement plan contribution
- Gathers and compiles information on processes, organizational structure, computer technology, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborates with appropriate staff to gather input and feedback concerning system needs.
- Resolves issues and problems related to system platforms, data, reports, etc.
- Assists with maintenance of accounting information systems.
- Drafts and presents reports of findings and analysis; identifies and recommends revisions and improvements to accounting practices and procedures.
- Identifies discrepancies, risks, and other problems, then reports findings to upper management; recommends appropriate corrective measures.
- Using independent critical thinking and evaluation skills, analyzes and troubleshoots accounting data and offers solutions to resolve issues
- All other duties as assigned
Position Preferences and Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Accounting and 5 years of experience, or
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field and 2 years of experience
- Experience in GL and/or Payroll processing a plus
- Critical thinking skills
- Ability to problem-solve
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
