The Department of Local Services Road Services Division is seeking a graduate student intern to join our Roads Director’s Office for an excellent opportunity to be part of local government! In this position, you will use your skills to support the division’s senior leadership and strategic development analysts and deliver significant division projects. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the ongoing growth and infrastructure of King County and make a difference in our community.

As the largest division within the Department of Local Services, Road Services Division is responsible for 1,500 miles of roads, 188 bridges, 5.7 million linear feet of drainage ditches, and other related infrastructure in unincorporated King County. Our work directly supports a wide range of functions that provide responsive and effective support to residents and internal Roads and King County customers.

Who May Apply
This position is open to graduate students who are currently enrolled as a full-time student and continuing in the fall of 2025 from an accredited institution. You must provide proof of full-time enrollment upon hire, and for each quarter or semester during the regular school year.
Interview Schedule
Those applicants who pass initial screening will be invited to participate in a 15-minute phone interview the week of 03/10/25.
If you are selected to move forward after the phone interview, you will be invited for a 40-minute virtual/in-person interview the week of 03/17/25.

WORK SCHEDULE
The work week is normally Monday through Friday 8.00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. but may at times require work outside of normal business hours. This position is Non-Exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standard Act and is eligible for overtime pay, with prior supervisor approval.

This is a hybrid position. The work associated with this position will be performed by teleworking, onsite in-office work and meetings as needed. The responsibilities of this position will include regular and ongoing in-office work. Occasional in-person work at various King County facilities or project locations may also be required.
Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.?
