The Facilities Management Division (FMD) seeks a visionary and experienced professional to lead our compliance efforts as ADA Compliance & Facility Code Compliance Program Manager. This role will champion accessibility and ensure all FMD-controlled facilities adhere to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other local, state, and federal regulations. The Program Manager will leverage their expertise to oversee compliance programs, guide accessibility planning, and foster equitable spaces for all.
In this position, you will oversee a vendor-led evaluation and transition plan for current facilities and services that do not or may not meet ADA requirements and lead future self-evaluations. You will also support and oversee all of FMD’s compliance programs and regulations, working collaboratively with and guiding the Building Operations Maintenance Planner to build and maintain FMD’s compliance standards. Additionally, this role will act as the FMD Small Projects Manager as needed.

Job Duties
- Develop, implement, and manage the ADA Transition Plan, ensuring structural and programmatic compliance across FMD facilities.
- Responsible for facility assessments and audits regarding ADA or other regulatory compliance.
- Lead internal evaluations and oversee vendor-led evaluations. Prepare for and facilitate external audits by regulatory bodies and ensures adherence to their recommendations.
- Serve as a key consultant to FMD leadership and staff on universal design, ADA compliance (Titles II & III) and other regulatory matters.
- Monitor modifications to facilities and ensure accessible features are maintained to meet ADA standards and ensure facilities comply with all applicable building codes, fire safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Develop and maintain compliance-related policies, standards, and SharePoint site, service as a centralized resource for staff.
- Maintain and manage digital compliance records, including permits, certifications, drawings, and metadata.
- Lead wayfinding and signage efforts, ensuring they meet ADA requirements and local building codes.
- Promote accessibility awareness by delivering training programs and fostering a culture of inclusion.
- Oversee and coordinate small projects as assigned, ensuring timely and efficient execution.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
- Five (5) or more years of progressive experience in ADA Title III compliance, planning, and response within a large operational department.
- Demonstrated experience leading compliance initiatives for facilities and acting as a key advisor on accessibility and code-related matters.
- Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and oversee evaluations and transition plans.
- Experience in managing multiple competing priorities under tight timelines and high-pressure situations.
- Practical experience in evaluating signage requests and ensuring they align with ADA, code, and diversity requirements.
- Advanced ADA regulations (Titles II and III), ADA Standards for Accessible Design, and state/local building codes (e.g., Seattle Building Code).
- Federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to facility compliance, fire safety, and environmental standards.
- Universal design principles and their application in creating accessible and equitable spaces.
- Methods for conducting facility assessments, self-evaluations, and audits for compliance.
- Strategic leadership, program management, and decision-making to drive efficiency and successful results.
- Negotiation, facilitation, and problem-solving in diverse and politically complex environments.
- Verbal and written communication, including developing policies, creating reports, and delivering formal presentations.
- Managing and organizing digital records, drawings, and compliance documentation.
- Using software tools such as permit tracking systems, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), and SharePoint.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace and addressing the needs of a multicultural customer base.
- Adaptability and resourcefulness in responding to evolving regulatory landscapes and organizational needs.
