Work Schedule
This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not overtimeeligible. The workweek is normally 40 hours, Monday through Friday. Typical work hours are between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Extended and/or flex scheduled work hours may be required to respond to service needs. This position performs on-call duties which may require occasional evening, night, and/or weekend work.

As An OSS Coordinator, You'll
- Plan and conduct full-time and part-time Transit Operator picks utilizing automated computer systems and applications.
- Validate payroll transfer between automated systems each pay period; coordinate base assignments for system board operators; update associated records and data in automated systems.
- Manage First-line Supervisor assignment picks; manage bi-weekly assignments for BaseDispatcher/Planners that include relief picks and overtime assignments; process reported overtime and post updated overtime lists.
- Develop methods to improve automated systems, applications, and functionality to better support transit operations; test system customizations, upgrades, and new releases; test and support peripherals, systems, and applications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve user-encountered system problems and breakdowns; coordinate with technical staff as required.
- Represent Bus Operations on special projects and provide expertise in operational procedures and requirements of negotiated agreements.
- Work with the Timekeepers to resolve time-sensitive payroll and HASTUS issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
We are looking for candidates who have the following minimum qualifications:
- Currently employed by King County Metro as a Bus Supervisor, Rail Supervisor, or an O&M Supervisor with previous Bus Supervisor experience or a Senior Schedule Planner.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the ATU Local 587 Labor Agreement involving Bus Operations employees or staffing requirements for Transit Operators and First-line Supervisors with the ability to interpret and determine the ramifications of collective bargaining agreements, historical practices, and other policies and procedures.
- Skill in analyzing data to identify trends and to make recommendations on a specific course of action.
- Knowledge of automated information systems and requirements, including HASTUS; skill in troubleshooting and resolving problems.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical transportation-related information to non-technical transportation audiences.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
- Ability to handle several projects simultaneously.
- Ability to develop and maintain tracking systems to support assigned work responsibilities.
- Understanding of transportation scheduling and work assignment techniques.
- Experience with data processing techniques and principles.
- Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access.
- A current, valid Washington State Driver's License is required to travel to remote sites with limited access to public transportation and to respond to systems problems at any hour of the day.
