King County Parks has an exciting opportunity as an Apparel and Inventory Coordinator. This role supports the entire Parks Operations section with outfitting our crews and staff, and supplying thenm with the necessary products and equipment to perform their job safely and efficiently.

About the Role:

This position is primarily responsible for managing the Parks Division's clothing inventory, including ordering, receiving, and distribution. You will oversee inventory using an automated system, ensuring timely stock updates and preparation for busy seasons and staffing needs. In addition to clothing, you will assist with ordering and receiving a variety of other items such as office supplies, maintenance supplies, safety gear, and equipment parts. The role also involves documenting processes, procedures, and workflows to maintain organized and efficient operations.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Manage clothing inventory disbursements, document stock levels, process inventory purchases, perform cycle counts, perform physical inventory audits, and perform material handling. Acknowledge receipt of goods and services. Maintain adequate supplies to meet user needs.
  • Perform warehouse shipping and receiving, demonstrate responsibility for materials handling, and expedite operational orders/overdue/back orders.
  • Obtain price quotes, research vendor sources, and select vendors for standard and specialized parts, materials, supplies, tools, and services.
  • Maintain computerized internal purchasing/inventory records and information system. Input and research inventory and direct purchases, disbursements, inventory adjustments and the history of parts use. Update computer master files.
  • Document all current process and procedures related to the position.
  • Partner with our Procurement team to encourage supplier diversity with the sourcing of products from a diverse range of suppliers.

Qualifications You Bring

  • Demonstrated experience in a warehouse, store, or equivalent material control facility, utilizing automated inventory control systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic warehousing equipment and supplies, purchasing procedures and practices, as well as inventory control and management practices.
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift.
  • Experience in customer service and understanding of providing excellent service.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), and the internet daily.

Required Licenses

  • Possession of a valid Washington State Driver's license at the time of appointment required.
  • Forklift Certification or the ability to obtain one within 6 months.


It Would Be Great if You Also Bring:

  • Inventory Management systems understanding.
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate manuals and catalogs.
  • Experience with process and procedure documentation.
Working Conditions:
  • Work Location:This position will work out of the Sunset Stores, 13659 18th Ave S, Seatac, WA 98168 until construction of the Central Maintenance Facility (CMF) is completed. The estimated completion of the CMF is currently May 2025 and is located in Renton, WA.
  • Work Schedule: This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. Standard shifts will be 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM, with some flexibility. This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible.
  • Union Representation: This position is represented by Local 925: Service Employees International Union (Local 925: SEIU).
  • Workplace Exposures: This position may be exposed to chemicals, such as cleaning supplies, fuel, paint, fertilizer, and lime. This position may also be exposed to loud noises from tools and carpentry equipment used in the warehouse.
  • Physical Requirements:
     
    Candidates must be able to:
    1. Operate equipment on a continuous basis.
    2. Perform heavy physical labor with weights approximately up to 50 pounds.
    3. Work on uneven slopes, surfaces, grades and terrain in inclement weather and other adverse conditions.
    4. Work at ground level and work on equipment at shelving heights.
    5. An offer of employment will be contingent upon successfully passing a pre-employment physical and background (criminal and driving history) and references checks.
