The Welder/Fitter is responsible for using hand welding or flame cutting equipment to weld or join metal components/piping or to fill holes, indentations or seams of fabricated metal products. This position is also responsible for cutting and fitting pipe or structural materials to weld.

Position Summary
The Welder/Fitter is responsible for using hand welding or flame cutting equipment to weld or join metal components/piping or to fill holes, indentations or seams of fabricated metal products. This position is also responsible for cutting and fitting pipe or structural materials to weld.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities

- Read and understand blue prints and ISOs
- Examine blueprints and plan sequence of operation, applying knowledge of geometry, effects of heat, weld shrinkage, machining and metal thickness
- Use certified procedures to weld pipe or structural materials as required
- Weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions
- Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors
- Inspect, examine and test installed systems and pipe lines using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, observation or other methods
- Make every weld as if it was to be a 100% weld free from undercut over welding
- Clean all welds free from B.B.'s and slags
- Create weld tickets daily
- Align parts using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars and hammers
- Mark reference points onto floor or face block and transpose them to workpiece using measuring devices, squares, chalk and soapstone
- Straighten warped or bent parts using sledge, hand torch, straightening press or bulldozer
- Remove high spots and cuts bevels using hand files, portable grinders and cutting torch
- Tack weld fitted parts together
- Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, bolt straps or bolt parts in position for welding
- Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings and related equipment according to specifications
- Put all information on the pipe before cutting and transfer all item numbers onto cut sheet and carry over item numbers to drop pipe
- Check measurements to assure they match with drawings and obtain approval from quality control department
- Obey and follow all safety rules and policies
- Wear all appropriate safety equipment (PPE)
- Perform all other duties as assigned by manager and/or supervisor
- High School diploma or equivalent education
- 1 year of welding/fitting experience in an Industrial setting
- Must be certified on PES welding procedures
- Basic written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to perform basic level mathematical skills
- Must be reliable and have good time management skills
- For new hires, must meet all Performance Energy Services employment qualifications in force at time of hiring, including successful completion of a background investigation and pre-employment drug screen
