General Description and Qualifications: King’s Way Christian Schools is a private, Christian school dedicated to serving students from 12 months through 12th grade. King’s Way partners with families to provide a Christ-centered education for the whole child, leading to life change in each student. Located on a beautiful campus in Vancouver, Washington.
Our Middle School (grades 6-8) is currently seeking a strong Social Studies teacher to join our collaborative team teaching our 7th and 8th grade students.

Responsibilities:
- Provide relevant and high-quality instruction in a manner that maximizes student engagement and achievement and provides equitable and challenging learning experiences for all students, exemplifying excellence (as defined by McEwan-Adkins, Marzano, and Danielson).
- Use the Bible as the foundational truth for all teaching, integrating the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and recognizing that there is no separation between secular and sacred fields of knowledge.
- Plan and implement a variety of research-based teaching techniques and pedagogy that provide differentiation for various learning styles and needs of individual students.
- Efficiently utilizes classroom time, assignments, assessments, and other instructional activities to ensure student achievement of learning expectations.
- Prepare adequate information and materials for a substitute teacher including daily routines, classroom procedures, school safety, lesson plans, seating charts, etc.
- Efficiently use a variety of classroom management procedures to cultivate a safe and effective learning environment that is conducive to successful instruction.
- Consistently implement agreed upon school-wide classroom management policies and procedures communicated by administration and in conjunction with the handbook including phone use, hall passes, dress code, etc.
- Participate in the systematic assessment / review of curriculum, student performance and professional practice.
- Partner with parents in the education of their child(ren).
- Effectively assess student progress by frequently providing timely and individualized, formative feedback and summative evaluations.
- Attend School Sponsored and Milestone Events as assigned; specifically participation in week-long 8th grade Washington DC trip and 7th grade Olympia fieldtrip.
- Support the mission and values of King’s Way Christian Schools in thought, communication, and action.
Position Details: Salary is based upon education and experience ranging from $41,000 - $78,000. Certificated staff receive 12-month prorated salaries and are designated as overtime-exempt employees.
This position is a full-time caseload.
The school year work calendar for faculty is 183 working days, 7.5 hours/day, which includes a minimum 30-minute duty free lunch break. Start time is generally 15 minutes before school starts, and end time is generally 30 minutes after release. Additionally, 45-60 minutes can be scheduled 1-2 days/week for staff or other meetings. Non-school working days, including professional development and conferences, etc. are assigned by principals.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or primary subject matter being taught.
- Demonstrate knowledge in the content area being taught.
- Desire and ability to work with and engage students at the specified age level with diverse backgrounds and levels of ability toward accomplishing their educational goals.
- Ability to organize tasks and manage time to meet many varied deadlines.
- Manage small and large groups of students in a classroom environment; and communicate effectively with students, parents, school administrators and other staff, including the ability to discuss topics which may be sensitive.
- Working familiarity with assistive technologies; internet and email systems; and word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software.
- The creativity to create engaging lesson plans and inspire students to learn.
- The physical and mental stamina to provide excellent education at the secondary level in a block schedule.
- Empathy to care for students.
- The candidate selected for this position will be required to pass a pre-employment background check.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Master’s degree in education, primary subject matter, or related field.
- Recent teaching experience, coursework, or other activity in secondary instruction.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current instructional strategies appropriate for students in appropriate grade levels.
- Proven work experience as a Middle School Teacher or similar role.
- State teaching certification or other teaching credentials appropriate for the level of students being taught.
- Knowledge of instructional methods appropriate for students at the respective grade levels.
- Specialized training or experience with educational technology and the use of technology to enhance learning
