DESCRIPTION:
Kingsley is looking for culturally aware applicants for the position of Academic Learning Specialist to provide differentiated and targeted instruction, intervention, and assessment in grades K-6 through a combination of intervention and classroom collaboration in literacy and math. This Academic Learning Specialist will join our Student Support Team and work alongside our Academic and Social Emotional specialists and Elementary teachers to support students who need intervention in math and literacy. The candidate must possess a profound understanding of students of diverse learning profiles and should be familiar with neuropsychological and educational evaluations as well as creating and working with differentiated student learning plans. Additionally, the candidate must have a strong background in working with teachers to modify their instruction to meet students’ needs. Finally, the candidate should be confident partnering with families guiding them in understanding how to support their child’s learning both in and out of school. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Identify learning needs of students through observation and assessments to determine intervention needs in and out of the classroom
- Write learning plans for students receiving intervention with specific goals for intervention
- Provide individual and small group intervention in math and literacy
- Write Winter and Spring reports summarizing intervention provided to students and their progress
- Serve as a resource for families, providing ideas for outside tutors and summer programs
- Maintain professional communication with peers and families and exhibit a receptive and collegial demeanor
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty to enhance curriculum and support differentiation
- Perform arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, monitoring, and other support duties as needed
- Participate in and support special events/activities
- Participate in professional development initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA/BS required
- MA degree in Education or Special Education, preferred
- Minimum of 5 years teaching and/or intervention experience
- Experience with multisensory instructional methods such as Wilson or Orton-Gillingham preferred
- Experience using a variety of assessments including DIBELS and the USNS
- Experience with Montessori Math curriculum and/or Illustrative Mathematics preferred

Starting salaries for full-time teachers typically range from $55,000 to $90,000, with the low end reflecting less experienced educators and the higher end recognizing those with over 20 years of teaching expertise.
